I like... THRIFT TOWN

Where to begin? For me, Thrift Town is paradise. It is the thrift store of all the thrift stores. They have everything. And when I say "everything," I mean EVERYTHING from collectible troll dolls to faded wedding gowns. I try to visit once a week, but it ends up being about once a month. I usually stick to clothes, but if something else really suits my fancy, I won't hesitate to buy it. Maybe that's why I love Thrift Town so much: It's the one place where I can impulsively buy almost anything, and it won't leave me feeling like an empty piggy bank. I find myself defending Thrift Town on a regular basis. Some Abercrombie-wearing bimbo will ask me where I got my shoes, and I'll answer "Thrift Town." That's when she scrunches her nose like a skunk just got run-over, and says, "That means someone else wore those. Eeeew. What if they had fungi problems?" Every time this occurs, I actually want to yell profanities and punch them in the eyeball. But instead, I always say, "I guess, but I always try to clean them before putting them on." They walk away, disgusted. God, I wish I had some backbone sometimes. Anyway, here's what I bought when I went today: a printed cotton dress, a grey H&M sweatshirt, a tan cable'knit sweater, a brown and blue printed skirt, black leggings from the little girls' section, and a Ralph Lauren paisley-ish t-shirt. Pretty darn successful. And that's why I like Thrift Town.

I like... TAZO TEA.

I'm starting this blog five days after Barack Obama's inauguration and ten days after my eighteenth birthday. I've been a tad obsessed with the blog world for awhile now, and with only one semester of high school left, I feel there is no better time to start my own blog. I'm planning on writing about fashion, food, TV shows, places, celebrities, friends, stores, and anything else that pops into my head. But the idea is that this will be a POSITIVE blog. Every time post will start with "I like... (something... like carrots)", and end with "And that's why I like (carrots)". YAY. So let's start:

Since tea is the way I start off my days, I think it should also be the way I start off my blog. My obsession with tea is a new one. I have always liked the idea of sipping tea out of a beautiful chrome mug during my first class, but I never actually enjoyed the tea (with the exception of Chai, of course). That is, until TAZO tea came into my life. I was first introduced to TAZO tea at my friend Maahum's tea party in Union Square. We drank tea while politely devouring Maahum's homeade samosas. My favorite flavors are Wild Sweet Orange and Passion Fruit. The tea is rich, flavorful, and soothing. TAZO tea is everything that tea should be. It is sold at Starbucks, but I've been able to find it at the Mollie Stone's grocery store on my busroute. It's a little pricey, which is why I don't make it every day, but it is definitely a treat that I look forward to.

And that is why I like TAZO tea.

WOW, MY FIRST BLOG POST! HOW EXCITING!!!
