I like... SEX & THE CITY.

Since I have no significant other, I had a hard time making plans for Valentine's Day. I've always found Sex & The City to be a very empowering show. I could always relate to what Carrie was talking about, and I knew that she wouldn't make me feel bad for spending a lonely Valentine's Day on my sofa with a tub of Nutella. I decided to host the first annual Valentine's Day Sex & The City Pajamarama Marathon. ALL DAY. What better way to spend Valentine's Day? At a school like mine, where 95% of girls are single, I didn't have a hard time finding other people to watch with me. I devoured 17 episodes plus the movie. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. Even as my eyes began to sting, I couldn't look away from the TV set. I had to keep watching.

Some of the day's Favorites:

"Bay of Married Pigs"
The episode is about the secret cold war between the married and unmarried. Miranda's co-worker thinks Miranda is a lesbian, and fixes her up with his lesbian friend. Miranda decides to go with the flow when she and her date get invited to a fancy party hosted by her boss. Miranda wants to get promoted, and the boss's wife wants a lesbian couple to enter their circle. It's pretty darn hilarious if you ask me.

"The Power of Female Sex"
The picture is of Carrie finding an envelope left by her lover filled with $1000, but I think the best part of the episode is when Charlotte models her vag for a professional painter. Charlotte is my favorite!

"The Baby Shower"
The girls attend a baby shower for their old friend Laney, who Samantha always hated. One funny part is when Charlotte finds out that Laney stole the baby name Charlotte had made up for her future child, Shayla. Charlotte tells Samantha, who looks Laney dead in the eye and shouts "YOU BITCH!," and they storm out of the baby shower. Later, Samantha hosts an "I Don't Have a Baby Shower." How clever, Samantha!

In other news, we're watching The Matrix in my English class. I had never seen it, but I cannot believe what I've been missing out on. I mean, look at that outfit:

I sure hope this is what the future holds!

Sorry, that last bit had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the post. I feel silly ending with "And that's why I like Sex & The City," but I think I will anyway. toodles

And that's why I like Sex & The City.

I like... COUSIN BENNY.

Benny is my cousin. Well, he's actually my uncle, but he's only twenty-one, so I call him my cousin. Benny lives in my basement. Benny got me this autographed Mike Teevee picture.

'Nuff said.
Oh Benny, how you've won me over with this precious precious gift. I don't even care that you eat all the leftovers before I get a chance to open the fridge, use all the toilet paper without unwrapping a new roll, or get me an autograph with your name instead of mine. So, Benny, this post is completely dedicated to you.

Oh, and just in case you forgot who Mike Teevee is, or (God forbid) you've never seen Willy Wonka:

He's the brown-haired kid in the front.
Mike Teevee? Benny, you've really outdone yourself this time.

And that's why I like Cousin Benny.

I like... NOT-SO-LAZY SUNDAYS

Keeping busy has always been important to me. I love the idea of sitting at home while drinking hot cocoa and reading the funnies for all of Sunday, but it's something I could never actually do. I'm terrible at sitting still for long periods of time (I actually cried after I took the SATs), and I just think that life's too short to just sit. So this Sunday I: took a shower, got dressed, drank some tea, read the Sunday ads, watched Best Week Ever, met Lydia at Thrift Town, spent a good hour and a half there, walked to Valencia & 17th where we enjoyed some really excellent burritos, walked to Clarion "mural" Alley where we took some pictures, walked the long haul to Guerrero & 26th where we explored a second-hand clothing store called Painted Bird, walked to the 24th & Mission BART Station, bid Lydia farewell, met up with some camp friends (specifically: Sierra, Skylar, and Maya), walked to Maya's house in Bernal Heights, played Taboo and Scattegories, walked back down to Mission where we enjoyed more delicious Mexican food, bid Maya farewell, walked back to the BART station, bid Skylar farewell, took BART to Oakland where I enjoyed a really amazing Warriors game (We won! We never win!). Phew.

Sorry for rambling, and sorry for assuming that you all would like to hear just exactly what I did on my not-so-lazy Sunday.

Here are some pictures form Mural Alley:

My boyfriend.

In case it's illegible: "The life of any street art project is never long and it's getting shorter every day, making my heart and soul heavy with sorrow and disappointment. It is much easier to destroy than it is to create. I truely hope that things get better."

Everything is thrifted (even the Urban Outfitter jeans!) except the bag (Roxy... I know, It's a little embarrassing, right?) and my black Converse high-tops.

This post reminds me of Calvin & Hobbes:

And that's why I like not-so-lazy Sundays.

I like... SECOND SEMESTER OF SENIOR YEAR

Wait. I actually love high school? Is this a joke?
Today, schools starts at 1 pm, (Cue the church choir with "Hallelujah"), and my eyes feel that great drowsy and drugged-up feeling one gets when they enjoy 10 hours of sleep. And here comes the best part: I have no homework. Well, I do have some homework, but it just doesn't seem to matter anymore. The only class I choose to focus on now is calculus. My mother thinks of my new attitude towards school as "slacking off," but I like to think of it as reaping the rewards for my 3.5 years of hard, hard work.

Lately, I have:
  • watched too much TV. This includes watching The City, Top Chef, Gossip Girl, American Idol, and every other terrible reality show on MTV. OH, and Law & Order marathons.
  • participated in a lovely photoshoot with Lydia of The Encyclolydia.
  • played basketball two hours a day, six days a week.
  • celebrated the victories.
  • stalked people in blog world.
  • done absolutely nothing else. HOW SAD.
Here's some pictures from my photoshoot:

On me: Boots are from eBay ($15). Scarf is from a street vendor in New York ($5). Everything else is thrifted.

And that's why I like second semester of senior year.

I like... FOOTBALL.

OK, so I like football. This almost makes me a man, or maybe a lesbian, but I can't help loving it. With three half-brothers, and a live-in cousin who bench-presses more than my weight, it's just something I have been raised to enjoy. I just finished watching the Superbowl, and even though my dear old Cardinals lost, it was a great game. I love the wincing, shouting, and jumping that goes into watching a good football game. My cousin, Benny, and I were pretty much hysterical the whole time-- except for halftime of course. Bruce Springstein? Really?

The Steelers' head coach is named Mike Tomlin. He looks exactly like Omar Epps (from House). It's a little scary. Take a look:

I know this is a little on the random/absurd side, but Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry look the same too! Look:

Ok, I''ll stop now.

This whole blogging thing is harder than I thought it would be. I am someone who rarely feels any sort of embarrassment or shame, but I keep thinking that the blog world won't like all the things that I like. Does it really matter? Well, I guess not, since no one really reads this anyway. But it actually does matter (a little), because I want to be proud of whatever I post in blog world. Maybe football wasn't the best idea, but it's the most honest thing I can think of posting right now. I LIKE FOOTBALL. I really really do.

And that's why I like football.
